Terje Peetso joined the Unit Health and Wellbeing in DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology in 2011. Her main responsibilities are related to the coordination of the implementation of the eHealth Action Plan 2012 -2020 as well as the overall coordination of the policy group in the Unit. In 2014 she was the EU Fellow in the University of Southern California, USA, where her research focus was on the obstacles which hinder the introduction eHealth in healthcare systems.

Dr Peetso has been working in the European Commission since 2003 and holds a diploma in medicine from the University of Tartu, Estonia.

 

Rifat Latifi MD, FACS, FICS, Professor of Surgery and Public Health at the University of Arizona, and is an honorary professor of the medical faculty of University of Tirana, Albania. He also serves as Vice Chair of International Affairs at the department of surgery.

Since 2002, he has initiated and overseen a team of three national telemedicine programs in Europe (Kosovaand Albania) and Cabo Verde (Africa) for which he has received the 2015 American College of Surgeons (ACS)/Pfizer International Surgical Volunteerism.

Dr. Latifi has received “The 21st Century Achievement Award for Health” by the Computerworld Honors Program and the International Award for Health Promotion by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and a number of teaching awards from residents and students.

 

Frank Lievens Back in 1999, got interested in Telemedicine via Home Care applications. Was involved in the creation of MED-e-TEL, the International Educational & Networking Forum for eHealth, Telemedicine & Health ICT,taking place yearly in Luxembourg and acts as its Director.Was elected to the Board of the ISfTeH (International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth) in September 2003 as Treasurer, and re-elected in December 2007 and December 2012 as Secretary-Treasurer.

György Velkey is a medical doctor, paediatric anaesthesiologist and intensivist and health care manager. Since 2003 he is a General Director of the Bethesda Children’s Hospital of the Hungarian Reformed Church.
